Capitol Imaging Services (CIS) shares a news story that “exposes the myths, urban legends, and old wives’ tales surrounding what causes breast cancer.”

Note that one of the myths is having a mammogram, ultrasound or MRI. Yes, you’ll be exposed to radiation during a mammogram, but the amount from this screening test is negligible. Meanwhile, multiple studies have shown that regular mammography can help lower deaths from breast cancer in women aged 40 to 75, especially among those over 50.

CIS performs mammograms, ultrasound and MRI, along with other common exams at select locations throughout our affiliate network. The superiority of 3D mammography is available at our Diagnostic Imaging Services (DIS) centers in Covington, Marrero, Metairie and Slidell, LA. Our Metairie facility perform screening mammograms nearly every Saturday morning throughout the year, offering further appointment convenience for those that are busy during the week.

More women and their medical providers put their trust in Diagnostic Imaging Services to screen for breast cancer. DIS is the only non-hospital entity in Louisiana to be a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. We combine the convenience of outpatient imaging with the latest technology, delivery a service that is unequal in southeast Louisiana.

In addition, DIS has radiologists who specialize in women’s health and more specifically the diagnosing of breast cancer. It does not matter where a woman has her mammogram. Our radiology breast cancer specialist can review an exam from any of our locations and provide the comprehensive results a woman and her medical provider deserve to receive.
