If you are 40 or older, the American Cancer Society encourages you to get a mammogram. In addition, health advocates are urging all mom’s to talk to their health care providers about getting screened for breast cancer and to better understand their personal risk for the disease.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related death among women. Although the causes of breast cancer are still unknown, there are many factors including being a woman (men can also develop breast cancer), advancing age and family history that may increase a someone’s risk for breast cancer.
For women without health insurance coverage, DIS is offering a $99 screening mammogram special valid May 1, 2016 – May 31, 2019. All four locations perform screening and diagnostic mammograms.
