Neuroimaging

Neuroimaging is defined as the process of producing images of the structure or activity of the brain or other parts of the nervous system. This means neuroimaging techniques reveal both form and function.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can be performed with advanced specialty protocols that are specific to such concerns as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). MRI is one of the most sensitive diagnostic tools for the detection and monitoring of MS lesions. A technique called Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI) has continued to develop into a powerful clinical tool to visualize venous structures and iron in the brain, and to study diverse pathologic conditions.

SWI has been found to provide additional clinically useful information that is often complementary to conventional MRI sequences used in the evaluation of various neurologic disorders.

When would I get a Neuroimaging exam?

Computed Tomography (CT) and MRI are popular modalities utilized by medical professionals and radiologists to study the form of the brain and its related areas. Your doctor may consider neuroimaging to be appropriate in the evaluation of the:

  • cervical spine
  • thoracic spine
  • lumbar spine
  • head
  • temporal bone
  • orbits
  • neck

An imaging technique known as Diffusion Tensor Imaging may be recommended to specifically evaluate disorders such as traumatic and toxic brain injury. Capitol Imaging Services has partnered with Mindset Integrated Company, a provider of Quantify™, a quantitative brain imaging database that is designed to ensure the sensitivity of the analysis and the reliability of the findings.

Quantify is a science-based brain injury and abnormality tool that may provide a clear, objective evidence of structural brain injury. In combination with 3T Ultra High Field MRI and the advanced Diffusion Tensor Imaging method, Quantify™ produces a sophisticated and sensitive method to evaluate disorders of the brain.

This analysis drives objective medicine and more accurate patient outcomes.

People receiving recommendations from their medical providers for these types of neurological imaging exams no longer have to be limited to a hospital or medical center as their only choices for testing. Capitol Imaging Services has continued its commitment to the latest in advanced radiology studies that are often requested by physician subspecialists.

Capitol Imaging Services is the leader in independent outpatient neuroimaging studies performed in the Gulf South. Our portfolio of neuroimaging services includes ultra-high field MRI, ultra-low dose CT and  nuclear medicine technology combined with radiology subspecialists in neuroradiology and MRI.
