May 15, 2013 (Metairie, La.) – Being the imaging provider with the strongest truly open architecture magnet in Louisiana has become even more distinct with the installation of a cutting-edge 3T MRI system.

This combination creates the only facility in the greater New Orleans and southeastern Louisiana area with ultra high field and a non claustrophobic MRI with a 1.2T magnet in a single location.

“To our knowledge, no other freestanding outpatient imaging center, hospital or health system has this technology under one roof,” said Michael Holmes, Chief Executive Officer of Diagnostic Imaging Services (DIS). “Clinicians now have a convenient and clear choice for imaging that demands the power and quality of 3T, or imaging that is patient-centric and sensitive to people who have concerns and possible anxiety about a traditional MRI,” he added.

The DIS ultra high field system is a Philips Achieva X-Series MRI. According to Holmes, the Achieva is unlike other 3T units in the market that are first generation systems. “Our radiologists believe that the capabilities of our 3T will surpass those with older scanning platforms. Combined with our sub-specialty radiological expertise in neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, interventional, breast and body imaging, DIS is poised to offer imaging and services that are not offered or matched by the majority of other outpatient imaging centers in our region,” said Holmes.
