Over the past several years, Diagnostic Imaging Services has conducted a campaign during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month in which for every screening and diagnostic mammogram, we make a donation to the New Orleans area of the American Cancer Society (ACS). This year was no different.
The ACS saves lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. They fund groundbreaking research that helps understand cancer’s causes, determine how best to prevent it, and discover new ways to cure it. The organization works with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rally communities worldwide to join the fight.
Due to the support from local medical providers and from women who choose DIS for their women’s imaging needs, we were able to make a contribution of $5,338 for 2016.
Tens of thousands of area women choose us over local hospitals in having testing completed, including mammograms, ultrasound, bone density studies and biopsies. When comparing Diagnostic Imaging Services to area hospitals, women not only understand the advantage of a quiet, relaxed outpatient environment, but also enjoy the cost savings when undergoing exams not covered by the Affordable Care Act and subject to an insurance deductible.
Great care. Less expensive. Believe it or not, people can actually save money in health care. How? By saying “no thank you” to the hospital whenever possible. And in the vast majority of cases, when not an urgent or emergency situation, people turn to DIS knowing they do not sacrifice quality for cost.
We look forward to working with the American Cancer Society again in 2017.
