Diagnostic Imaging Services is pleased to announce that nuclear medicine studies will soon be performed on the Northshore.
The additional of nuclear medicine at our Covington – Highway 21 facility is part of our continuing commitment to being the imaging provider of choice for residents and medical providers in southeast Louisiana. No other independent outpatient imaging organization provides more exams and specialty studies than DIS.
What is nuclear medicine?
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurological disorders and other abnormalities within the body.
The main advantage of a Nuclear Medicine examination is the possibility to obtain excellent and unique information about the of the examined organ’s function. It complements other types of tests such as x-ray and MRI, which display better anatomical images.
Currently, Diagnostic Imaging Services offers the nuclear medicine modality at our Metairie – Veterans Memorial Boulevard location. This expansion makes it much more convenient for people who are recommended to have a nuclear medicine test, providing an additional facility for those living or working on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.
Targeting a September 2017 launch
Before the end of the third quarter of this year, our Covington – Highway 21 facility is slated to initiate our nuclear medicine service. We have some final touches and testing to complete, with that work going on currently. We are very excited to be bringing the power and versatility of nuclear medicine to the Northshore and expanding our service offering in southeast Louisiana.
Diagnostic Imaging Services is doctor trusted and patient preferred.
